The book fair has been disrupted due to strong winds
The book fair has been disrupted due to strong winds. Several stalls have collapsed due to strong winds. On Sunday (April 4), on the 17th day of the book fair, publishers and salesmen had to struggle to handle stalls and books due to a sudden storm at around 6:30 pm.
This time the fair of hope of Bengalis was in the swing of despair. Publishers are in despair at the sudden lock-down after half the time of the fair has passed after facing various adversities. The lock-down fair time has been changed from 12 noon to 5 pm. Publishers, writers and salespeople have expressed dissatisfaction with the decision to lock-down, stop public transport and continue the fair. Many have questioned the benefits of keeping the fair without readers.
Many publishers have started leaving the fair from Saturday in protest of such a decision. Many have lost hope in the sudden storm. Some stalls are broken in the wind, many books are wet.
Morshed Alam Hridoy, publisher of the damaged Babui publication, said, “We wanted to keep the stall closed from Monday in protest of the Bangla Academy’s decision.” Although we are not returning, the stall broke down. The books got wet and I was further damaged.
Dia Prasad, a salesman of Varna-Prakash, said, “We have not opened stalls since Monday. It will be difficult to come and go without public transport. We will stay at home for security reasons.
